Starting your own book club would require two main goals. The first and the foremost would be pre-planning that includes the goal of your club and its policies. You can obviously build upon them once you achieve your goals. The second and also very important is getting members.

PRE-PLANNING PHASE: In this phase you should decide the goal for your book club. An example can be, answer the following questions.

Question 1: Are you an ardent reader?
Question 2: You don't like spending much on books, do you?

Incase, you don't mind spending on books and prefer having a personal collection, well you can still read on and get ideas to start your own book club in your locality and encourage children to read books with very less rent.This is a nice goal to start with.

You can have in mind financial targets that you would like to meet. Also, you can target your book club on a particular genre to start with, something that you like and is quite a hit!

GETTING MEMBERS: This is the most important part for the success of your book club. Until you have members you book club is non-existent. To get members you need to advertise. Ask friends. Post information about your club in online book clubs. Introduce catchy introductory schemes. You can also start with a theme based party where you can teach people how the ambiance of the club is going to be. This would attract a lot of people.

Remember you can never convert non-readers into readers with minimal effort. If you are targeting non readers then be prepared for the hard-work of not only getting them to start reading, but also to maintain that.

It would be better if you target people who are ardent readers as yourself.
